Esenin, a poet of tragic perception of the world, a singer of the vanishing Russia, is also departing from Time. The motif of this departure is perhaps the main one in Esenin's lyrics: "I left my native home...", "Of all the departed, the hemp plant dreams…", "We are now gradually leaving for that land where there is silence and grace…". The poet's main confession: "In this life, I am only a passerby…". The poet is periodically pursued by testimonies and memories of contemporaries, bringing him back to an era he did not fit into, binding him to time. But the best poems are a sure way to deceive this merciless time. Therefore, in any era, nature itself, which inspired the poet and was animated by him, serves as a daily reminder of Esenin. Both the "frosted maple" and the "white birch", and the "fire of the red rowan", and the sad eyes of our "lesser brothers" are ready to vouch for the poet for many years to come. One of the few contemporaries who properly appreciated Esenin's lyrics, the demanding Vladislav Khodasevich, wrote: "What is beautiful and noble in Esenin is that he was infinitely truthful in his creativity and before his conscience, that in everything he went to the end, that he was not afraid to recognize mistakes, accepting upon himself that which others tempted him with, and that he wanted to pay the terrible price for everything. His truth is love for the motherland, though blind, but great".
