The Time Machine = Машина времени

Herbert Wells (1866–1946) was a pioneer in the genre of science fiction, he was one of the first to apply and develop the theme of time travel. In the novel «The Time Machine» (1895), a bold scientific experiment is described:... its author is transported more than eight hundred thousand years into the future! At first glance, the society of the future appears quite attractive: technological progress has stopped, but its achievements are so great that people lead relatively affluent lives. However, closer acquaintance with the descendants reveals the terrible secrets of their lives and pronounces a verdict on the prospects of all humanity. It conveys a call not to separate technological development from humanistic values and to remember the nature of Homo sapiens — not just man, but rational man.
