Witchcraft schemes permeate Russian history. Since time immemorial, the enemy of mankind has encroached upon the inhabitants, especially the rulers of Rus. The outright chaos began immediately after the cessation of feuds and from the moment the lands were united around Moscow. Pious rulers were subjected to relentless attacks by satanic forces, sorcerers, witches, magicians, and wizards. However, this book does not aim to describe all cases of witchcraft in Rus; it only recounts those where magical practices were attempted to influence the Russian state and its leaders.
