Leo Nikolaevich Tolstoy 1828-1910 - a Russian writer and philosopher, author of world-famous works such as War and Peace, Anna Karenina, and Resurrection. He was born in Yasnaya Polyana into a wealthy aristocratic family. L.N. Tolstoy became an orphan early.... In 1837, he moved to Moscow with his sister and three brothers, where a distant relative, T.A. Yergolskaya, took care of their upbringing. In 1851, he joined the military service in the Caucasus and continued to write. In 1852, he sent the manuscript of Childhood to the popular magazine Sovremennik of that time. The magazine's editor N.A. Nekrasov highly appreciated the young author's work. After the completion of the Crimean War, he went to Saint Petersburg and immediately entered the circle of Sovremennik, where he was welcomed as a great hope of Russian literature. In addition to his literary activities, L.N. Tolstoy considered the issues of upbringing and education to be important. He created an Alphabet published in 1872, which, in addition to the primer, included fairy tales, stories, and fables. The stories described by L.N. Tolstoy are easy to perceive; they are written in a simple and understandable language, and at the same time, they are instructive, touching the soul, and resonating in the hearts of readers. Some of the author's fables are adapted translations of the works of the famous ancient Greek fabulist Aesop, but L.N. Tolstoy made them more familiar to modern perception. For example, in the fable The Peasant and the Water Sprite, instead of the Greek god Hermes, we see the Water Sprite, but the plot and moral of Aesop's fable are preserved. It is necessary for everything to be beautiful, concise, and, most importantly, clear - this is the most important requirement that the writer imposed on his creativity, and he always followed it.
