The book by Catholic priest Mavro Orbini "Slavic Kingdom", essentially the first history of all Slavic peoples, can quite rightly claim the title of the most sensational book of the century. It was first published in 1601 in Italy, and... immediately followed by a series of scandals associated with it. Traditional historians rallied against the book, followed by the Catholic Church. The publication was immediately placed on the Index of Forbidden Books and narrowly escaped destruction. In 1722, by personal order of Peter I, part of this book was translated into Russian, and now we present the complete version, translated from Italian. The loud statements of Mavro Orbini, which shattered the traditional history of the Middle Ages, continue to shock seasoned historians even today.
