This collection features two outstanding works by the German writer Franz Kafka – “Metamorphosis” and “Letter to His Father”. “Metamorphosis” is a novella about Gregor Samsa, a traveling salesman, for whom an ordinary morning turns into a nightmare that changes... his ordinary life forever. How will the physical changes of the main character affect his relationships with his family and his psychological state? How will the world perceive his new 'self'? “Letter to His Father” is a deeply personal, candid text in which Kafka describes his complicated relationship with his father. These letters represent an attempt to come to terms with his feelings and explore how his relationship with his father affected his personal and professional life. Can words on paper help overcome personal tragedies and find understanding? The texts of the works are adapted for those continuing to study the German language at an intermediate level (levels B1-B2 – Oberstufe) and are accompanied by comments. After the stories, exercises with keys are offered. At the end of the book, there is a dictionary of the vocabulary used, facilitating reading.
