IX century. A war between the Vikings and the retinue of the aged Prince Burivoy is renewed over the city of Kholm - a remote outpost of ancient Novgorod. Burivoy does not even suspect that the Vikings are led by... his nephew, who disappeared in the Varangian Sea many years ago, and now bears the foreign name Klepp.
The prince suffers several defeats in a row, however, his son - Gostomysl - comes to his father's aid at the head of a large army, surrounds the Vikings on land, and begins a bloody battle. The only thing that can stop it is the death of the leaders of the warring sides, but will the gods want to accept this sacrifice and allow silence and peace to settle?
"Prince by Blood" is a continuation of Arseniy Vtyurin's novels "The First Among Equals" and "The Path of the Warrior," previously published in the series "At the Origins of Rus" and part of the cycle "Who Are You, Rurik?".
