Clifford D. Simak is one of the founding fathers of modern science fiction, a giant of literature, whose works brought about the concept of the "Golden Age of SF" in American literature. He worked in various directions of the genre,... but he gained the greatest fame — and the love of several generations of readers — through works that showcase his own unique style, which critics called soft, humanistic, and even pastoral. The novels included in this volume are among the best in the author's legacy. "Goblin Reserve" has become a bedside book for several generations in our country. Over the course of fifty-five years, Simak wrote about thirty novels and more than one hundred twenty novellas and short stories. He received the Hugo, Nebula, Locus, and other awards.
