"My Embryo Saw Your Eyes. A Love Story" is the first book of the trilogy "CoDex 1962" by one of the most original writers of contemporary Iceland, Sjón. The action takes place during World War II in a small German town called Kkženstadt. A fugitive from a concentration camp, half-dead from exhaustion, unexpectedly appears at the local hotel. In his hands is a hatbox, where clay of a special mixture is stored, from which a child will be sculpted. The fugitive is hidden in a secret room of the hotel, where he is cared for by a maid named Mari-Sophie.
Sjón (b. 1962) is an Icelandic poet, prose writer, playwright, screenwriter, and translator. He is the author of ten novels and thirteen poetry collections. He is a laureate of the Nordic Council Literature Prize (2005), the Icelandic Literature Prize (2013), and a Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters of France (2021). He is known as a songwriter for Björk and was nominated for an Oscar (2001) as a co-writer of her song for the film "Dancer in the Dark." His book "Skugga-Baldur" (2022) has been published in Russian.
