The Elephant's Child and Other Fairy Tales

The book introduces the reader to the works of the famous English writer Joseph Rudyard Kipling (1865—1936). Traveling through various countries, in 1899 he spent several months in South Africa, where he collected material for a new children's book, which... was published in 1902 under the title «Just So Stories». Children all over the world are fascinated by his stories about a curious little elephant, about a cat that walked by itself, about how the leopard got its spots, and how the first letter was written.
This manual will help high school students prepare for the state exam in English.
The text of the manual is adapted for educational purposes to the Elementary level. Each chapter is accompanied by a commentary, a translation of difficult words and expressions, as well as exercises aimed at developing the communicative competence of students. The exercises will help to develop communicative skills in reading, writing, and speaking, as well as lexical and grammatical skills.
An audio CD with a recording of the fairy tales, read by a native English speaker, is included with the manual.
