There is nothing shameful in closely examining a work of art. On the contrary: this is the minimum you can do. Stop. Breathe. Relax. Don't think, just look, let it in. Absorb the surrounding environment, feel the space before you, free your mind, let the internal monologue take a back seat, and allow your eyes to adjust.
