The famous Anton Pavlovich Chekhov (1860-1904) took his first steps in Russian literature under the pseudonyms Antosha Chekhonte, A Man Without a Spleen, My Brother's Brother, as an author of humorous stories and feuilletons, which were published in humorous Moscow magazines "Budilnik", "Zritel" etc. and in St. Petersburg's humorous weekly magazines "Oskolki", "Strekoza", and subsequently included in the first books of the budding author. It is the stories from the first collections of A. Chekhov - "Shalost", "Pestrye Rasskazy", as well as stories printed in various magazines - that are included in this book, introducing the reader to the humorous talent of the world-renowned writer.
