The Prince

«The Prince» — the most significant and ambiguous work of the Florentine statesman of the Renaissance era, Niccolò Machiavelli. For many years, this book was associated with the politics of poison and daggers. After the publication of «The Prince», the term «machiavellianism» emerged, denoting cynicism, permissiveness, and duplicity in politics. However, today many of the author's positions are perceived less unequivocally, finding their embodiment in the history of the 20th century. In addition to «The Prince», this edition includes another famous work by Machiavelli, «Discourses on the First Ten Books of Titus Livius», which complements and clarifies many aspects of the author's main work. Both texts are presented in the most modern translation available today and are accompanied by notes.
