Welcome to the Universe

The precursor to this book was an introductory astronomy course for humanities students, taught by Neil deGrasse Tyson, Michael Strauss, and Richard Gott at Princeton. More than 100 problems are discussed here, and this number, according to the authors, should be just enough to learn to think like an astrophysicist.
In a playful manner, the authors demonstrate that a deeper understanding of the properties of the infinitely large and the infinitely small is available to us, as well as a more meaningful dialogue with the cosmos, and for this, a decent university-level knowledge of algebra is sufficient. The authors propose to solve physical problems of microorganisms on Europa, colliding black holes, an expanding universe, and even a two-dimensional time machine TARDIS. You need not torment yourself with questions about whether you have enough ingenuity, because the authors have already taken care of that: they provided each problem with a detailed explanation and presented a solution for it. A time-tested course in space science for beginners!
