Black Holes. BBC Lectures

You have in your hands a collection of the Reith lectures by Stephen Hawking on black holes, delivered on BBC Radio 4. It's hard to imagine anyone who could explain one of the most mysterious cosmic objects more engagingly and... simply than the person who made cosmology a popular science and dedicated many years to studying the effects related to black holes. The unanswered questions were interpreted by David Shukman, the BBC's science editor. The Reith lectures, or the lectures named after Lord John Reith, the first director-general of the BBC, an educator and popularizer, are a series of scientific popular talks. Since its founding in 1948, the studio has featured Bertrand Russell, Robert Oppenheimer, Jonathan Sachs, and others.
