I confess

The novel by the outstanding Catalan writer Jaume Cabré "I confess" has been translated into two dozen languages, and its total print run approaches one million copies. 
The hero of the novel, Adrià Ardevol, a musician, art expert, and polyglot, reviews his life before an unseen broom sweeps all events from his memory one by one. He recalls his childhood and the loving care of nanny Lola, his cold and pragmatic mother, and his erudite father with his mysterious fate. The most valuable treasure of the antique shop owned by his father was an ancient Storian violin, which bore the shadow of a long-ago crime. However, it turns out that Adrià's life story cannot be reduced to just a few decades; it all began many centuries ago in the Catalan monastery of San Pere del Burgal, and the sounds of the fantastically perfect violin, created by a Cremonese master, magically transform human destinies. In the end, the hero's world is flooded with dark secrets and mystical mysteries, the resolution of which will take years.
