Mozart and Salieri. Little Tragedies

The play is based on the meeting of two people, equally devoted to music, but understanding its meaning in different ways. One lives by inspiration and hardly notices his own uniqueness. The other has come to recognition through labor, discipline, and self-restraint, so another's gift seems to him a challenge and injustice. Their conversations about music, fame, and the dignity of art gradually turn into a dispute about where the line lies between high service and moral decline.
