The Den of the Mirror Carp

It all begins with an appeal from Lyudmila Zorina, who miraculously survived a fall from a balcony and is convinced that it was not an accident. While an informal investigation is underway, new causes for concern arise one after another in the house in Lozhkino: the mother-in-law brings a teenager named Boryusik and effectively leaves him in the care of the family, strange events occur around, and answers elude. The heroine has to travel around Moscow, talk to witnesses, and piece together a story intertwined with old grievances, family secrets, and a criminal trail. The intrigue relies not on chases, but on details, inconsistencies, and human actions.
