Midwest — it is neither a state nor a country. It is a condition: an eternal interland, where you are always an immigrant.
The author of the famous «Springfield» Sergey Davydov wrote a book about these four years as he lived them, — in a torn change of genres, voices, and states. Free verse, prose, dreams, monologues, one euro in the account and a queue for a better share. The book ends not with a victory — but with the possibility to live on. Which, in general, is the same thing.
