Mazurkas on Wednesdays

In the spring of 2024, musician and writer Pavel Kushnir was arrested and subsequently died in prison as a result of a hunger strike. Shortly before his arrest, he completed a series of radio broadcasts dedicated to Chopin's mazurkas. In analyzing the musical text, Kushnir added free associations regarding it, reflected on the struggle against fascism, emigration, imperialism, and the ideas of 1968, and spoke about his favorite poets and filmmakers. This book collects transcriptions of all the broadcasts from the series "Mazurkas on Wednesdays" along with comments from musicologists as well as interviews with Pavel Kushnir.
