The Diary of a Genius

"The Diary of a Genius" is a peculiar memoir by Salvador Dalí, written by the artist between 1952 and 1963 and published in Paris in 1964. By this time, Dalí is already world-famous, and his new book is both a creative manifesto and an attempt to explain or even justify in the eyes of the public the persona of the "true genius of modernity" that he has cultivated, who was unfortunate enough to be born in an "era of almost dwarfs." The full text of the diary is enriched with marginal appendices, provided by the author for the first edition: "The Science of Fart", "Praise for the Fly", "Dalian Mysticism...", as well as a comparative table of the merits of past and future artists.
