The «Golden Age of Russian Poetry» began with the lines of young Pushkin (1815) and ended with the last poems of Nekrasov (1878). This era gifted us dozens of beautiful masters of poetic word: from the «poets of Pushkin's era» – Zhukovskiy, Boratynskiy, Batyushkov, and Yazykov, Pushkin's classmates Delvig and Kyukhelbekker, the Decembrists Ryleev and Odoevskiy – to Fet, Tyutchev, Lermontov, Koltsov, and A. K. Tolstoy.
In our anthology, the best works of twenty-one poets are presented, revealing all facets of the Golden Age – landscape lyrics and civic odes, philosophical stanzas and tender love poems. Many of these poems became popular songs and romances.
