The History of Florence

Niccolò Machiavelli (1469—1527) — an Italian thinker, historian, and writer of the Renaissance. He saw strong political power as the main condition for the prosperity of the state. Many consider Machiavelli one of the founders of political science and the originator of political technology theory. The writer's most famous work became the treatise "The Prince," while his largest work is "The History of Florence," created at the request of the University of Florence and dedicated to his native city. Machiavelli demonstrates characteristic qualities of lordly rulers and continues the search for the ideal sovereign. Without aiming to provide a consistent narrative of events, the author focuses his attention on the turning points in the history of the city from ancient Roman times to the late 15th century.
