The Two-Headed Rider

In search of solitude, Count Nikolai Alexeyevich Vislotsky goes to his ancestral estate Belopolye, hoping to leave behind the stifling summer Moscow and the annoying attention of Princess Ragozina. But the peace is short-lived: a wandering storyteller appears at the estate, and soon one of his eerie stories begins to come true, leading to tragic consequences. Vislotsky finds himself drawn into an investigation where behind the wellbeing of neighboring estates lie old feuds, lies, and guilt. However, the count is troubled not only by other people's secrets. In his own home, he finds identical portraits of his late father—portraits whose differences seem to conceal a coded message. Trying to resolve the mystery of the past, the count realizes that what is happening in Belopolye is connected to it much more closely than it seems. Perhaps someone is very keen on keeping the truth from being revealed.
