The book is compiled through translation from official educational materials of Chinese medicine institutes from the higher education system of the PRC, primarily from a series of printed publications of the Tianjin Institute of Chinese Medicine and materials from the website of the Nanjing Institute of Chinese Medicine.
During the work, reference publications in Chinese were used, particularly "Zhen Jiu Da Ci Dian" (Great Dictionary of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, 1987), "Zhong Yi Da Ci Dian" (Great Dictionary of Chinese Medicine, 1995), as well as numerous comments and interpretations of Chinese medicine concepts from various sources.
