In the early sixties, young Soviet scientists, convinced romantics of science, believed that they could conquer nature and transform the world - master space, control the atom, tame the thunderstorm. Oleg Tulin and Sergey Krylov, who study atmospheric electricity, have no doubt that the latter is possible. But to obtain the necessary data, they need to do the unimaginable - risking their own lives, to fly an airplane into the very center of a thunderstorm cloud... Dedicated to the daily life of Soviet physicists, the novel was released in 1961 and immediately gained a cult status. The book has been adapted into film several times and reprinted many times.
