Arguments Against Excessive Wealth

In recent decades, all statistical data and results of scientific research demonstrate the presence of a very alarming phenomenon: the gap between the rich and the poor continues to grow. A small group of super-rich individuals is becoming richer, and the distance between them and everyone else keeps increasing.
In this book, philosopher and economist Ingrid Robeyns shows the real scale of the problem of personal super-wealth that has gone out of society's control over the last fifty years, and convincingly argues that from moral, political, economic, social, ecological, and psychological perspectives, excessive personal wealth is not only unjustified but also harmful to
all of us, including the rich. Super-wealth poses a real danger to democracy and is a serious obstacle to a stable, sustainable future.
Instead of the existing system, Robeyns proposes limitarianism – a concept that involves establishing strict limits on the amount of wealth that a single person can possess. This would help address many of the problems generated by neoliberal capitalism and create the possibility for a more just world order.
