Lost Goddesses. A Kaleidoscope of Porn

Unlike most books that focus on the harms of pornography (addiction, relationship destruction), Tricarico views it as a complex symbol of modernity and a vivid manifestation of the "shadow" of Western culture. Tricarico, as a Jungian psychologist, sees porn actresses as heirs of the ancient phenomenon of sacred prostitution, which has been displaced from culture. According to the author, modern pornography is a desacralized and technological analogue of ancient rituals associated with the cult of goddesses. This is a tragic narrative about how an industry devoid of soul attempts (albeit distortedly) to fill the void left after the departure of the divine feminine from the collective consciousness.
