Shiva-Sutras. Yoga of Supreme Self-Realization. With Commentary by Jaideva Singh

“Shiva-Sutras” is revered as a sacred text of the yogic tradition, revealing the ultimate unity of the individual "self" with the Divine Consciousness. Dr. Jaideva Singh studied the “Shiva-Sutras” under the guidance of his Guru, Swami Lakshmanjoo – the last living bearer of this spiritual tradition in Kashmir – and provided an English translation of the sutras along with commentary by Ksemaraja. The content of the book is presented as follows. Each sutra is given in Devanagari, as well as in transliteration. Next is the translation of each word of the sutra, followed by the translation of the entire sutra. This is followed by the commentary Vimarsini by Ksemaraja in Sanskrit and its translation, detailed notes on important and technical words, and a brief outline of the main ideas of the sutra. An extensive introduction and annotations for each sutra illuminate the holistic system of Shaiva Yoga. For the convenience of the reader, a glossary of technical terms and an index are included.
