Book of Psalms (Tehillim). With Rashi's Commentary
The Book of Tehillim – is a collection of one hundred fifty poetic works: hymns, prayers, teachings, composed by various authors at different times and eras. Perhaps the Book of Tehillim is the second most important book of the Tanakh....
Tehillim – is a book of prayers with which a person addresses God. The Almighty commanded man to pray in the Torah, but there are no texts of prescribed prayers in the Torah itself – this task was left for people by the Creator. Tehillim – is the response of the people of Israel to the Almighty's request: «Let me hear your voice». The texts of Tehillim arose under the influence of the Almighty, under the influence of the prophetic spirit poured down from above onto a person. As a result, this book addresses both God and man. For a prophet is not only someone who conveys the word of the Almighty to people. A prophet also conveys the words of people to the Almighty. The commentary on Tehillim, composed by Rabbi Shlomo Yitzhaki (Rashi), the greatest commentator of the Torah and Talmud, was a unique culmination of the labors of his life, the pinnacle of the method of commentary he developed. This commentary has the greatest degree of significance.
