Mishneh Torah (Code of Maimonides) Book of Knowledge

Rabbi Moshe ben Maimon (Rambam, 1138–1204) — the greatest Jewish scholar of the post-Talmudic era: legislator, philosopher, scientist, and physician. His code Mishneh Torah (“Repetition of Teaching”), or Ha-yad ha-chazakah, is one of the most important works of Jewish tradition. In the most extensive of his works, Rambam summarizes and systematizes the Talmudic tradition and presents the entire body of Jewish religious legislation — halakha — in an accessible form. The first book of Mishneh Torah, “Knowledge,” includes “Fundamental Laws of the Torah,” “Laws of Character Traits,” “Laws of Studying the Torah,” “Laws of Idolatry,” and “Laws of Repentance.” It is published for the first time entirely in Russian, with an accurate modern translation and detailed commentary.
