Ulrich Alexander Boschwitz (1915–1942) wrote the novel "The Fugitive" in 1938, immediately after Kristallnacht, the Jewish pogrom that swept across Germany. But it was not until 2021 that the novel was published for the first time in German and subsequently translated into dozens of other languages. The remarkable fate of the author and the book is recounted in the afterword by the German publisher of the novel, Peter Graf
