Elizabeth Gaskell (1810–1865) is one of the most famous writers of the Victorian era, author of the novels “North and South,” “Mary Barton,” “Cranford.” The novel “Wives and Daughters” is her last work, the story of the coming-of-age of a passionate and trusting girl, Molly Gibson.
