The Ideal Husband

The drama of Oscar Wilde occupies a special place in his creative work. The vivid images and witty plots he created – the crimes of the "model" politician Sir Robert Chiltern, the moral dilemma of the high-society Lady Windermere, the passionate love of the Jewish princess Salomé – are still well known to theater audiences around the world today.
This collection includes popular comedies from the author’s lifetime: "The Ideal Husband," "The Importance of Being Earnest," "Lady Windermere's Fan," "A Woman of No Importance," as well as lesser-known tragedies: "The Duchess of Padua," "Salomé," which was banned from production in London theaters, and "The Sacred Prostitute, or The Woman Drenched in Jewels," which has come down to us only in fragments and was published only after the author's death.
