Sevastopol Tales

«Sevastopol Tales» — this is a cycle of three works based on the author's personal experience as a participant in the defense of Sevastopol (1854—1855) during the Crimean War. They depict the heroism of soldiers, the horrors of war, the life of an besieged city, and the general, often senseless, brutality of military actions. The cycle is preceded by an article by historian Evgeny Tarle.

The collection also includes other stories about the war and the life of officers: «Raid», «Logging», «Dishonored», «How Russian Soldiers Die (Alarm)».
