In the outside world, Nachr is called a terrorist and a prostitute; some refer to her as a revolutionary or a heroine. But the truth is that Nachr has always been many things at once and carried different names. She was a girl who learned early and painfully that when you are a second-class human, love becomes a form of despair; and first and foremost, she learned to survive. She was a girl who arrived in Palestine in unsuitable shoes and sought nothing special — but found what she had always lacked in the basement of an old beauty salon: purpose, politics, friends.
