Assembler and Software Model of x86/64 Processors

The book is a practical guide to the software model of i80x86/64 processors. The simplest elements of this model (variables, constants, addressing methods, and instruction set) are studied using the a86 assembler and the d86 debugger. The 32-bit capabilities of i80x86, including protected mode, gates, exceptions and interrupts, privileges, page translation, exceptions, LDT and TSS, as well as the 64-bit modes of the x64 processor with exceptions and interrupts in long mode are studied using the nasm assembler.
