Programming in Kotlin for Android

The book is dedicated to the development of mobile applications for Android in the Kotlin language. It covers the basic structures and elements of the language, and provides a detailed description of the Kotlin collections framework. The architecture of the Android operating system, applications, and their containers is demonstrated, along with the fundamentals of parallel programming. It discusses thread safety, working with parallelism using callbacks. A separate chapter is dedicated to special Kotlin constructs—coroutines, with an emphasis on structured parallelism. Channels are considered, along with the use of threads for asynchronous data processing. Issues of improving application performance using Android profiling tools and reducing resource consumption through performance optimization are explored.
