Leonid Kaganov is perhaps the most overrated author in domestic science fiction. Two dozen literary awards, a dozen publications, and translations into foreign languages actually mean nothing. And high popularity on the internet does not justify the rare and modest print runs. Kaganov's problem is that he attempts to shake the established laws of genre, the universe, psychology, physics, and morality from unexpected points of view. And this is not always relaxing reading, despite large doses of real humor. Moreover, the characters in his works are not very pleasant people and not particularly successful robots in life, so it's hard to want to emulate them rather than just follow their bright stories with enthusiasm. But, despite this, Kaganov is rightly called a master of the short story. Therefore, if you have to choose between two books — the collection of stories you are holding or the new novel “Path to Shell,” which will only be published in 2028 — of course, it's better to choose this one. At least it is already in front of you, and there are still a few copies left in stock.
