A large-scale historical saga by Sergey Borodin about the great conqueror who subdued countries from Hindustan to the Mediterranean with his iron hand is the result not only of the author's deep study of the history, way of life, and morals of the era but also of his sincere love for the East and its rich cultural heritage. He spent many hours in the famous Vatican Library in Rome. The work continued for more than twenty years, and the result was a cycle of novels, the fourth of which the writer did not manage to complete.
