Throne of Solomon. The Sacred Mountain in the City of Osh

The book is dedicated to the study of the manifestations of religious cults of a major spiritual center in the Fergana Valley – the mountain of Takhti-Suleiman (Throne of Solomon), capping the hierarchy of places of worship in the region of Central Asia. Since the late Bronze Age (12th–8th centuries BC) to the present day, the mountain has served as an object of worship. Among the landscape sanctuaries, the mountain of Takhti-Suleiman is unique due to the traces of a late specific Muslim cult. Its features lie in the esoteric content of numerous rock carvings, which include religious formulas and stylized names of the Prophet Muhammad and Caliph Ali. The symbols engraved on the rocks have no analogs in any part of Central Asia. The information provided is accompanied by a large number of illustrations.

Research on the mountain of Takhti-Suleiman was conducted by the author in 1988–1989, and subsequently, in 1990–1992, some details were clarified. The book presents information for the specified period. In June 2009, at the XXXIII session of UNESCO in Spain, the sacred mountain known as Suleiman-too was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
