The famous Anton Pavlovich Chekhov took his first steps in Russian literature under the pseudonyms Antosha Chekhonte, The Man Without a Spleen, My Brother's Brother as an author of humorous stories and feuilletons, which were published in Moscow magazines "Budilnik", "Zritel" and others, as well as in Petersburg weeklies "Oskolki" and "Strekoza", and later became part of the first books of the aspiring author. These stories from the first collections – "Shalosti", "Skazki Melpomenu", and "Pestrye rasskazy" – mark the beginning of the writer's development as a master of satire and realism, combining humor with deep life truth.
