This Shore

The action of the new novel by Andrei Dmitriev — a famous Russian prose writer and laureate of many literary awards — takes place in our time in Ukraine, where the protagonist of the novel, a retired school teacher, flees from Russia, driven by his own fears and a series of absurd circumstances. Thanks to a chance encounter, a second life begins for the hero there — a dramatic continuation of the first. Andrei Dmitriev is true to literary tradition and will not disappoint those who have already appreciated his "The Turn of the River", "The Closed Book", "The Road Back", "The Bay of Joy", "The Peasant and the Teenager". But like any great master, he reveals a new side to himself with each work. "This Shore" is undoubtedly a tragedy. But a tragedy created according to the laws of the comedy of errors. Such things happen in life, and Dmitriev knows the unpredictability of life as well as the laws of genre — you believe him.
