The Sword and the Yatagan

Malta, 16th century. A boy named Nico is kidnapped by slave traders and taken to North Africa.
His sister Maria has two dreams. The first is to escape from the island, where no one has lifted a finger to save her brother. However, her second dream seems even harder to achieve: in a society where only noble sons are allowed in schools, a girl from a humble family wants to learn to read.
Meanwhile, in Paris, Count Christian de Vries is growing up. Since birth, he has been accepted into the Order of Knights Hospitaller, but the boy's heart is devoted to medicine…
In a few years, the three of them will each play their role in the Great Siege of Malta, when civilizations collide on the tiny island and the fate of Europe will be decided.
From the slave markets of Algiers and the sultan's palace in Istanbul to the bustling quays of Paris and the chivalric fort in Malta: “The Sword and the Yatagan” is one of the best adventurous sagas, a novel about the eternal struggle of religions and cultures of the East and West.
