Empires of Sand

Family ties, honor, and a sense of duty often clash, reshaping human destinies. But two boys in 1870 do not know this yet. The young cousins live in Paris, besieged by the Prussian army; they are very close, but soon their paths will diverge. Tragic events will force one to flee to his mother’s homeland in North Africa, to the warlike Tuaregs, while family shame will compel the other to enlist in a military detachment accompanying a distant expedition.
