Silent Night

In the Shetland Islands, midsummer is the time of white nights, when birds sing even at midnight and the sun never sets. Artist Bella Sinclair throws a lavish party to celebrate the opening of her exhibition at the gallery on the beach. The party ends abruptly when one of the guests, a mysterious Englishman, collapses on the floor and weeps bitterly, claiming he does not know who he is or where he comes from. The next day, the Englishman is found hanging from a beam with a grotesque clown mask on his face. His colleagues believe it to be suicide, but Detective Jimmy Perez is convinced he was murdered. His confidence is bolstered when another corpse is discovered at the bottom of the gorge. However, the detective's relationship with Fran Hunter may have clouded his judgment, and he begins to question his own assessments. After all, in this crazy time of year, when night turns to day, everything around is not what it seems at first glance…
