The Disappearance Equals Formation. Poems and Essays

The book of the outstanding Norwegian poet and prose writer Tur Ulven (1953-1995) includes complete translations of all his lifetime poetic collections (the debut is represented by an extensive selection), translations of a significant part of his posthumously published poems, several essays, and the only interview with Ulven. For this edition, many of the previously published translations have been corrected and refined. A number of poems and essays are published for the first time. Tur Ulven is recognized by critics as one of the most important Scandinavian authors of the second half of the 20th century.
Ulven's work has been awarded several literary prizes, including the Guldenal Publishing Prize (1987), the Hartvig Kiran Prize (1990), and the Obstfelder Prize (1993; the thank-you speech is included in this volume), as well as the Dobloaug Prize awarded by the Swedish Academy (1995).
