A Conversation about Mourning

If you cannot or do not want to let go of your grief, you need to learn to live with it. Olga Martynova wrote this essay after the death of her husband, poet Oleg Yuriev (1959 - 2018).

She tries to understand how others cope with what she cannot handle and what does not leave her in peace.

Olga Martynova is not seeking advice or consolation; she engages in a conversation - as sincere as it is thoughtful, as brave as it is wise - with the famous texts about grief and death by Roland Barthes, Joan Didion, Elias Canetti, Emmanuel Levinas.

Olga Martynova is a poet, author of several books of poetry and prose in Russian and German.
