The History of Medieval Philosophy

"The History of Medieval Philosophy" by A. Shtekl, first published by V.M. Sablin in Moscow in 1912, is a fragment of a textbook by a renowned German author, covering the Middle Ages from the "Carolingian Renaissance" to the first stage of the Hundred Years' War. The reader is introduced to ancient philosophers and the Arab, Jewish, and Christian thinkers who embraced their ideas. This book is also interesting as an illustration of what and how Catholic youth in Germany, Britain, and other countries learned over many years, and as a monument of its time. The preparation of its first Russian translation involved people who also entered the history of thought, this time of our own country. This edition is reproduced for the first time in modern orthography.
