Alexander Ostrovsky

The book by V. Ya. Lakshin (1933–1993), a literary scholar and Doctor of Philological Sciences, is dedicated to the life and work of the great playwright and is based strictly on documentary evidence with the involvement of a large volume of factual material. And yet, before the reader appears a living person who devoted his entire life to the theater, fighting against routine workers and officials for the great Russian art. He walked his life and creative path as a true 'knight of the theater,' wholly dedicated to this one passion and ready to endure any trials for it, performing a selfless labor devoid of immediate reward.
